WWE Quietly Splits Popular Team

With the quiet end of a WWE tag team, one star made the most of it. He invented a new gadget.

After the end of a tag team in WWE, a star invented a new persona – Johnny Gargano

The tag team between the two stars came to an abrupt end thanks to Tommaso Ciampa not renewing his contract and letting it expire so he could leave WWE. While Ciampa’s stance on his contract was initially reported earlier, it was more recently confirmed that Gargano was considered a singles star as the DIY had quietly ended. However, this does not mean at all that Gargano sat still.

Instead, the star has been very active in making sure he makes big strides in his own character, and from being the senior but frustrated veteran member of the team, has taken on the role of a more devious heel. He regularly frames Axiom, wearing the star’s mask as he moves around the locker room doing different things and accusing the star of it. From pranking ring announcers to “blocking toilets” to even hitting people, he did it under the mask of Axiom and then blamed the star for it.

While it’s clear to fans at home what’s happening, it doesn’t seem as simple to those in WWE, with Axiom finding himself in trouble right now with authority figures as part of the storyline. Triple H, as creative head, apparently approved this character for Gargano, and he’s making the most of it.

Now, the star has confirmed his new character with a post, in which he revealed that he is creating a new catchphrase for himself. He took credit for being the one who exposed Axiom and made the locker room a safer space for everyone involved.

“In the face of Evil… Axiom. Always remember who you can really count on.”

He also posted a photo of himself with the slogan “Johnny Gargano is my hero” on it.

It seems like he’s trying to pretend to be a babyface for the fans and this storyline. This will likely end in a big grudge match between the two stars if this continues.

Despite all this, Ciampa remained indifferent and silent. It seems that the star is leaving and it’s a goodbye for him. Although Gargano adapted quickly, DIY will always be missed, if not for his main roster in WWE, but for the legendary rivalry story in NXT nearly a decade ago now.
