Brandon Sklenar says he received death threats as it ends in a lawsuit against us

“There was a big learning curve for me because even though I had a small role in the film, my visibility exploded,” said Sklenar, who played Atlas Corrigan in the 2024 film. The Hollywood Reporter in a profile published Wednesday, December 17.
The 35-year-old actor recalls posting a statement on Instagram during the August 2024 press tour asking fans to be kinder.
“Colleen [Hoover] and the women in this cast represent hope, perseverance, and women who choose a better life for themselves,” Sklener wrote at the time. “Vililiating the women who poured so much of their heart and soul into the making of this film because they believe so strongly in its message seems counterproductive and detracts from the subject of this film.”
He pointed out, “That is, in fact, the opposite of the idea. What may or may not have happened behind the scenes does not and hopefully should not undermine our intentions in making this film. It has been disheartening to see the amount of negativity projected online.”
Sklener then asked his followers: “Before you spread hate on the internet, ask yourself who this is helping. Ask yourself if your opinions are based on fact. Or if you just want to be part of something. Let’s be part of something better together. Part of a new story written for women and all people everywhere.”
His efforts to spread positivity quickly backfired.
“I wasn’t damning anyone, but I was just like, ‘Can we focus on the spirit of the whole damn movie and not be so hateful towards anyone?'” Sklenar said during THR interview, referencing the film’s themes of domestic violence and leaving a toxic relationship. “I thought it was a good thing to say, but apparently a lot of people didn’t feel that way.”
Sklenar said the reaction was almost instantaneous, with people telling him, “‘You’re a piece of shit,’ ‘I hope you die,’ ‘I hope your career ends,’ things like that.”
THE 1923 one alum noted that his agent begged him to stay offline amid Lively and Baldoni’s public feud, but Sklenar said it’s hard to ignore all the chatter.
“Imagine you’re walking down a hallway and there’s a door to a room full of 100,000 people and they’re all saying something about you,” Sklenar said. “Are you telling me you’re not going to put your ear to the door?” »
