Philadelphia Union midfielder Alejandro Bedoya agreed to a one-year contract through 2026 on Thursday.

Financial terms were not disclosed for the former U.S. international, who also has responsibilities regarding Union player development and front office initiatives.

“Alejandro’s impact on our organization continues to be invaluable, both on and off the court,” said Philadelphia head coach Bradley Carnell. “While he remains an important contributor as a player, his leadership and knowledge in his player development and front office roles are particularly beneficial. His experience and deep understanding of our system make him a constant presence and trusted mentor to our younger players, while his work behind the scenes continues to strengthen our culture. We are excited to have Alejandro back as we begin the new season.”

Bedoya, 38, had one goal and three assists in 24 matches (nine starts) last season.

He has totaled 25 goals and 33 assists in 268 career matches (226 starts) with the Union. He is the club’s all-time leader in matches played in MLS.
