Ian Poulter’s son Luke was selected from the Great Britain and Ireland team for the Walker Cup against the United States.

Luke, 21, will be part of a team of 10 people for the 50th staging of the event at Cypress Point in California through September 6 to 7, live on Sky Sports.

Poulter JR recently contributed to 3.5 points of four outings in Great Britain and Ireland from 16.5 to 18.5 victory on the continent of Europe in the St Andrews trophy.

He also carried out the direct elimination stages of the American amateur and narrowly missed the qualifications for the US Open after losing in the play-off, when he won a first college victory for the Gators of Florida in March, winning the Schenkel Invitational.
