Former French President Nicolas Sarkozy’s request to be released pending his appeal will be heard by a Paris court on Monday, less than five weeks after the ex-head of state began serving a five-year prison sentence for conspiring to raise campaign funds from former Libyan dictator Muammar Gaddafi.
