The final reason why everyone is canceling Netflix

By Jennifer Asencio | Published

Netflix is once again at the center of controversy, and this time, none other than Elon Musk has called for a boycott of the streaming service. Musk reposted an expose from TikTok’s X Libs account that calls out the streamer for some of its children’s shows, which contain LGBTQ+ themes that they deem inappropriate for the intended audience. The account also mentions that one of the children’s content creators on Netflix was among those celebrating the murder of podcaster Charlie Kirk last month.

Shows found by Libs of TikTok are aimed at children ages seven and up. Some are even intended “for all ages”. Paranormal park with no exit has a transgender character, although it is marketed to young people. The conservative pundit took issue with this and other themes and blasted Netflix in an article on X.

The post was retweeted by Elon Musk with the comment: “This is not good. » Musk’s estrangement from his transgender child, whose name is Vivian, has been widely publicized, including during New York Fashion Week recently, where Vivian made several public appearances.

Musk once posted about Vivian: “My son is dead…killed by the awakened mind virus. » The transgender character in the children’s series Paranormal park with no exit So it’s a revelation that hits him, and it’s no mystery why he would support the cancellation of a service that promotes it.

TikTok’s Libs also discovered that the show’s creator, Hamish Steel, celebrated Charlie Kirk’s murder and called the murdered podcaster a “Nazi.” Account

The people behind Libs of TikTok have found several kids’ shows on Netflix that include themes they classify as “woke,” including Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous, Cocomelon, The Babysitters Cluband even the Strawberry Shortcake special Strawberry Shortcake and the Beast from Berry Bog.

“Cancel Netflix” was trending on X when Musk shared Libs posts from TikTok, with people showing proof that they had canceled their Netflix subscriptions. This has even been reflected in the stock market, where Netflix shares have fallen three to five percent since Musk called on people to “cancel Netflix, for the health of your children.” Netflix has weathered boycotts before, but never a boycott led by a multi-billion dollar tech giant that owns a social media company.

Other entertainment companies, like Disney, have reduced the amount of LGBTQ+ content they create for children. The producers claim that the material simply isn’t popular. This has angered activists seeking representation in films and TV shows, who say the companies are pandering to an anti-LGBTQ+ agenda.

In fact, Netflix was often considered anti-LGBTQ+ because it aired comedy specials from Ricky Gervais and Dave Chappelle, which featured jokes about trans people. In light of this, it’s ironic that the streaming giant is currently facing backlash for being too “woke.” This isn’t surprising, though, considering how much of their programming could fit into this category. A culture war with Elon Musk could be big for Netflix, whether it attracts new subscribers or drives away old ones.
