Zayn Malik reveals the real reason he left ‘One Direction’

Zayn Malik has revealed details about how management worked when he was in One Direction.

The 32-year-old started his career after auditioning for X-Factor in 2010. Through the reality show, he was cast in a group that turned out to be the most famous British-Irish pop group in the world.

Zayn considers his X-Factor audition a “life-changing” opportunity as it provided a major boost to his career with the formation of 1D.

However, he also admitted that he wasn’t “convinced” of the kind of music their band was selling.

According to him, the management already had a planned mentality about the type of music the band should put out.

The management’s perception didn’t really move Malik.

He told BBC Radio 1: “There was just a general conception that the management already had of what they wanted for the group, and I just wasn’t convinced of what we were selling.”

The Dusk Till Dawn singer had it in his mind that this type of music was not for him.

“I wasn’t 100 percent behind the music. It wasn’t me. It was music that had already been given to us, and we were told that was what was going to sell to these people.”

Zayn said it all seemed weird considering they were the most famous boy band in the world.

“We were told to be happy about something we weren’t happy about,” he said.

Malik was the first member to leave the group in 2015. In late 2016, Harry Styles, Liam Payne, Niall Horan and Louis Tomlinson also announced an indefinite hiatus.

On the work front, the Night Changes singer is reportedly working on a documentary film with Tomlinson.
