Surely tomorrow Episode 3 & 4 Recap: Gyeong-do and Ji-woo confront the past as family secrets and threats from their ex-husband surface

Episode 3 of Surely tomorrow picks up immediately at the end of episode 2, with Lee Gyeong-do rushing to the airport to stop Seo Ji-woo from leaving the country. When he catches him, Ji-woo demands to know why he intervened.

Gyeong-do can’t reveal the real reason why Ji-woo’s sister Ji-yeon suffers from dementia and needs Ji-woo to help her run the family business. He tells Ji-woo that she can’t leave in her current state and urges her to stay in Korea, to deal with her alcoholism, before deciding on her next steps.

He warns that if she leaves for Europe now, she will find herself alone and continue to fall into alcoholism. Ji-woo in return, insisting that she has nowhere to go and refusing to return to her apartment, forces Gyeong-do to take her to his place.

She stays there for several days and continues to drink excessively, frustrating and worrying Gyeong-do. Despite repeatedly asking him to cut down on his drinking, Ji-woo asks him why he cares and if he still has feelings for her.

Gyeong-do avoids giving a straight answer, but instead urges her to stop drinking and return home. Ji-woo refuses to leave, however, until Gyeong-do stops coming back to the apartment altogether.

Unable to cope with the situation, Gyeong-do begins sleeping elsewhere, alternating between a sauna and his office’s on-call dormitory. Noticing his absence, Ji-woo goes to his office and tells him he can go home, as she leaves to return to her own apartment.

However, his concern for her only grows. Even as she prepares to live alone, he continues to ask her not to drink, which irritates her but also piques her curiosity.

She asks their mutual friend Park Se-young why Gyeong-do is so persistent in drinking. Park Se-young then explains that Gyeong-do’s behavior stems from his past struggles.

After their breakup in 2017, he turned to excessive drinking and even took frequent days off. Even after returning to the office, he drank from a hidden flask all day, affecting his performance and prompting warnings from his boss.

His friends urged him to stop, but he dismissed their concerns. The situation got worse when his mother came to get rid of his alcohol. In his drunken state, he accidentally pushed her, breaking her arm.

That day, he also collapsed from excessive drinking and was hospitalized. Later, after learning of the harm he had caused his mother, Gyeong-do finally decided to get sober and has not touched alcohol since.

Upon learning this, Ji-woo becomes deeply emotional, reflecting on what his actions have caused him. She meets Gyeong-do and scolds him for his past alcoholism. When Gyeong-do tells her that he doesn’t blame her, it frustrates her even more.

As she asks him why he never reprimanded her, he admits that he turned to alcohol after losing her and now he knows the dangers of drinking alcohol, he wants to protect her from making the same mistakes. Later, Ji-woo’s mother comes to meet her and warns her again against returning to Europe.

Ji-woo rejects her mother’s warnings and reveals that she knows she is an illegitimate child, born from her mother’s affair. She expresses that she does not want to be part of the family business or claim inheritance from the man who raised her, even after knowing he is not her child.

After this confrontation, Ji-woo’s mother leaves and overwhelmed, Ji-woo drinks and takes sleeping pills, unintentionally overdosing and losing consciousness. Sensing something is wrong, Park Se-young visits her apartment and when she receives a response from Ji-woo, she calls Gyeong-do.

They break into the apartment and find Ji-woo unconscious, surrounded by pills, and rush her to the hospital. Once Ji-woo regains consciousness, she explains to Gyeong-do and Park Se-young that she has no intention of harming herself.

She just wanted to sleep but accidentally took too many pills. After she goes out, Gyeong-do takes her back to his apartment and asks her again not to drink excessively.

He throws out all the alcohol in her apartment, warns her not to drink anymore, and advises her to eat healthily. He continues to monitor her, makes sure she eats properly, and continues to dispose of any hidden alcohol he finds.

Meanwhile, Ji-yeon’s husband secretly plots against the family. He drugged Ji-yeon, contributing to her dementia, and plans to sell the company behind her back.

A distressed Ji-yeon confronts their mother, blaming her for Ji-woo’s upbringing and expressing a desire for them to be close. The series then returns to Gyeong-do and Ji-woo’s college years.

Gyeong-do worked as a hotel waiter on weekends. He first realized that Ji-woo came from a rich family when she visited the restaurant with her parents by chance.

After learning this, he became embarrassed in her presence. He gave her a dress from his father’s brand, buying it with his own savings. When Ji-woo later gave him an expensive shirt, matching her dress, worth more than his mother’s monthly income, he felt uncomfortable.

This discomfort gave rise to an argument. Hurt and believing she was a burden to him, Ji-woo stopped talking to Gyeong-do and eventually decided to leave for Europe, as his mother had urged.

Back to the present, Ji-woo asks Gyeong-do to meet at their old university one day. She shares that she often visits the place to revisit her memories, but it seems empty without him.

She admits that his current behavior confuses her, making her feel like he may still have feelings for her. She tells him that because of this, she is considering leaving the country. Ji-woo warns that if Gyeong-do stops him again, she’ll take it as a sign that he has feelings for her too.

Afterwards, when Ji-woo returns home, her ex-husband visits her. He reveals that he was released from prison on a drug-related case. He tries to manipulate her into reconciling, claiming she won’t find anyone better.

During this confrontation, Gyeong-do arrives at his apartment with luggage. When Ji-woo’s ex-husband questions his presence, Gyeong-do replies that he came to “flirt” with Ji-woo and hopes he does it well. With this, episode 4 of Surely tomorrow concludes.
