X is down for the second time this week

Elon Musk’s X is experiencing its second large-scale outage this week.
The site and app, formerly known as Twitter, either doesn’t load at all or starts briefly before displaying error messages like gang signs.
The Down Detector site shows nearly 80,000 reports that X is down starting around 10 a.m. Eastern Time and is still down as of this writing.
This is the second major outage at X this week, following an earlier technical issue. This comes as the platform faces criticism after Grok, xAI’s chatbot built into X, responded to user requests to manipulate real photos of women, and even children, into non-consensual sexual and violent images.
When Musk took over Twitter in 2022, he laid off much of the staff, sparking concerns that the site would not be able to operate normally or properly monitor harmful content. The site has remained largely operational, although there have been notable outages over the past year.
TechCrunch has contacted X for comment.
