According to Anaheim police, the unnamed woman became unconscious after riding the Haunted Mansion attraction on Monday, October 6. Anaheim Fire & Rescue responded to the scene, where Disneyland security had already begun CPR while waiting for paramedics. She was transported to a nearby hospital, but unfortunately she was later pronounced dead. Authorities say it appears to be a “unfortunate medical episode,” and confirmed there were no signs of any malfunction with the ride itself – which quietly reopened shortly afterwards.

Haunted Mansion Incident Makes People Look Aside at Disneyland

At this time, the official cause of death has not been released, but officials say the Orange County Sheriff-Coroner will provide more details. Disneyland also released a statement to PEOPLE, confirming that a guest required medical attention and was transported to the hospital.
