Why Alien: the earth was right to turn its back on Ridley Scott

By Chris Snellgrove | Published

So far, Noah Hawley Alien: earth turned out to be a monster with the public, and the spectacle effortlessly weaves serious fears and a mysterious tradition in a modern horror tapestry. An aspect of the show that shocked fans, however, was that he failed in the history of the franchise openly, ignoring some of the major events of the two Prometheus And Alien: Alliance. These films were made by the man who gave life to this fictitious universe, but the frank truth is that Alien: earth was right to reject the story of extraterrestrial origin of Ridley Scott because it was confusing and convoluted.

Part of what made the xenomorphs so frightening abroad of origin and its consequences was that no one really knew what xenomorphs were or where they came from. But Ridley Scott decided to partially answer the question with the film Prequel PrometheusWho featured Peter Weyland and a former team going to a distant planet to visit the engineers, an extraterrestrial breed that created humanity. Meeting its manufacturer is not going well for Weyland, but things go to David, an Android that escapes on an extraterrestrial spacecraft and later begins to carry out grotesque experiences, finally creating the xenomorph.

Alien: earth Ignoring this by revealing that the USCSS Maginot discovered the xenomorphs five years before the start of the experiences that would eventually create the perfect form of life. It is possible that an intelligent writing can still weave the story of David in the global extraterrestrial story, but at the moment, it seems that the spectacle has retracted this Android being the one who created these emblematic extraterrestrials. While some fans believe that the show should have approached Ridley Scott’s vision, Alien: earth is a much better show to abandon the origin of the convoluted xenomorph in which he prepared Prometheus And Commitment.

While it was beautiful, Prometheus was a frustrating mystery box of a film that challenged the public to determine (in a sure movement to trigger X-Files Fans) What the mysterious Black Goo is who continued to infect people. He turned out to be a Biowapon engineer, a David would later use to destroy the creators of humanity while using his technology to carry out experiences. Finally, these experiences (which involve black goo, extraterrestrial wasps and an unhappy human) lead to the creation of the xenomorph.

Even when Alien: Alliance Released, I thought it was all exaggerated and useless. Honestly, the xenomorphs were much more frightening when we did not know exactly what it was or where they came from. And if we absolutely had to have an original story for the most frightening creature of Horror, why did he have to involve other foreigners, an evil Android, an off-screen genocide and a half-reception of research in crazy sciences thanks to someone we have never heard in previous films?

Alien: earth Wisely cut all this and presents the eggs of the face as another little extraterrestrial life that Weyland-Yutani picked up in the hope of making money. They have no way of knowing (until it is too late, of course) that the eggs contain creatures that will plant extraterrestrial life among victims without distrust. And thanks to the Weyland-Yutani ship containing these specimens crashing on the planet, this amoral enterprise ends up bringing a major galactic threat directly to earth.

Like that, Alien: earth offers a background that reinforces what we know (like the relentless research of Weyland-Yutani for extraterre life Prometheus is completely retcon, we are back not to have an idea where they came from). Everything in the show is faithful to the spirit of the first two extraterrestrial films, which (mainly) makes the Fandom happy. And Alien: earth Not getting bogged down in the history of Xenomorph means that the show is free to present your own strange tradition on the search for immortality of humanity.

There is no doubt that Ridley Scott is a visionary creator, and we owe the continuous success of this franchise to the success of his masterful 1979 Stranger. But as Gladiator II Proven, there is one thing such as doing too many trips in the same good, and Scott probably should never have returned to the extraterrestrial franchise. Now, with both Prometheus And Commitment apparently retalled, Alien: earth Can do something that the franchise has trouble doing for decades: telling something other than a half -cooked origin story by answering a question that no one really asked.
