On Tuesday, November 4, President Trump took to Truth Social to share a powerful message with the public.

“SNAP benefits, which increased by billions and billions of dollars (MANY TIMES!) during crooked Joe Biden’s disastrous tenure (due to being randomly “handed out” to anyone upon request, not just to those who need them, which is the point of SNAP!), will only be provided when radical left Democrats open up the government, which they can easily do, and not before! Thank you for your attention to this matter. President DJT,” he wrote.

Ultimately, the post led some to speculate that Trump had apparently given up on using partial SNAP contingency funds to supplement November recipients. Concretely, AXOIS published a report entitled: “Trump says SNAP won’t be paid until after shutdown.”

Additionally, The Hill published a report titled: “Trump says he’s suspending SNAP benefits until shutdown ends.”

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt speaks

President Donald Trump’s Truth Social message and subsequent reports have prompted the White House to clarify its message. On Tuesday, Karoline Leavitt told reporters that the Trump administration was “in full compliance.” Additionally, she noted that he plans to partially fund SNAP for the month of November.

“Recipients of these SNAP benefits need to understand that it will take time to receive this money because the Democrats have put the administration in a very untenable position. We are dipping into a contingency fund that is supposed to be for emergencies, for disasters, for war, and the president doesn’t want to have to draw on that fund in the future, and that’s what he was referring to in his post on Truth Social,” Leavitt explained.

Ultimately, Leavitt claimed that the “The best way to get the full amount of SNAP benefits to recipients is for Democrats to reopen the government…Democrats are delaying it. »

As The Shade Room previously reported, the cessation of SNAP benefits was initiated by the October 1 government shutdown. Last week, a federal judge ordered the USDA to disburse the funds “as soon as possible.” This, as news loomed that benefits would cease on November 1st. Additionally, the Trump administration has made clear that it has no plans to step in and use contingency funds to pay for SNAP, according to The Shade Room. This, apparently, is because it would take money away from other government-funded programs.

However, on Monday, November 3, it was announced that the Trump administration would comply with this order. However, instead of the full $9 million in funding that SNAP usually sees, the administration would only be able to pull out about 50% of that amount to fund recipients for the month of November. Additionally, it was noted that it may take anywhere from a day to a few months for beneficiaries to receive the partial funds.
