A man from California with brain paralysis captured when a food delivery robot collided several times with his mobility scooter in a video that has since become viral.

Mark Chaney, a therapist at West Hollywood, said he was on the way back of a procedure on Friday September 12, when he met a delivery robot which he described as “acting irregularly,” he told Storyful’s news agency.

Chaney had led his mobility scooter because of his brain paralysis, he said.

“The robot did not prevent me from passing and when I finally succeeded, it cut me, then stopped, which made my scooter hit the back of the bot, then it fell,” said Chaney.

He later declared that he had been in contact with Service Robotics, the company who owns the food delivery robot.

“I hope this can be resolved with repair and change for me and others,” said Chaney in the comments section of an update published on his Instagram. “This could be a security problem for people with reduced mobility, disability or even someone who walks in the street.”

Server Robotics, based in California, previously announced that it had the aim of deploying 2,000 delivery robots powered by AI in the United States by the end of 2025.

Earlier this year, Uber announced in the same way that it expanded its use of robots to deliver food, customers of the East Coast having a taste of technology for the first time.
