Bill Skarsgård was hesitant to revisit the role of Pennywise from his iconic films, He.
HBO turned the films into a series called Welcome to Derry. The upcoming show, scheduled for release on October 26, will primarily focus on the hideous clown’s origin story.
But after playing this difficult role in two films, the Swedish actor did not want to return to the series.
Andy Muschietti, the creator of the franchise said SFX Magazine“I think he was a little hesitant at first to play it again because it’s something he’s done in the past.”
According to the director, when they approached Bill about playing the character again, he had already played a lot of dark characters at the time, so he was a little hesitant.
Andy explained: “Because, obviously, for someone who takes his work and his art as seriously as he does, living in the heads of these characters for a long time is expensive.”
“So he was a little hesitant at first – and then something changed… I guess we started again, broaching the subject and discussing all the virtues of this new story, and he decided to do it.”
supported by HBO He The series is expected to feature Skarsgård along with Jovan Adepo, Chris Chalk, James Remar and Taylor Paige.
