The first trailer for Predator: Badlands was released last week, and we are still obsessed with this. The idea of having a predator as hero of a Predator The film is quite cool, but located on a planet filled with other species of badass, extraterrestrial killers? It’s just beyond great. And yet, these are just the glitter of our obsession. The main objective is the massive Easter egg and potentially for the construction of the world 26 seconds. Here is if you don’t know what we are talking about.
So in Predator BadlandsShe Fanning plays a character named Thia. Thia looks quite normal in this high-level image of her but half a second later, her eyes get back and reveal something amazing: the logo for Weyland-Yutani.
Weyland-Yutani, of course, is the nasty corporation of the Stranger franchise. The one who says it is normal to kill everyone on the Crew In order to bring the foreigner back to earth. Whoever sends the navies to “kill” creatures, but it is really only another sacrifice made during the attempt to acquire them. The only Ripley fucks himself by killing himself on the prison planet. Yes, that Weyland-Yutani did Thia.
This is something we know that the company is doing. Weyland-Yutani also created the other androids we saw in Stranger Films: ASH, bishop, Tour, etc. Even in the last episode, Alien: RomulusThe Android Andy character has almost exactly the same as the one above. Do you remember that?
So, you may be wondering, why is this a big problem? Extraterrestrials and predators have already fought in several films as well as comics. Yes, it’s true. However, this is our first link between the Predator franchise and the Stranger Franchise in this new modern era of films. And it seems to happen with care, clarity and intention. Admittedly, it is not a coincidence that Andy and Thia have the same moment of the eyes of the eyes. These resemble the first seeds of an extraterrestrial cinematographic universe vs predator made in a sufficiently subtle way for these things to be paid only if the fans want.
What does that mean, however? Well, this is where things become interesting. We don’t know when Predator: Badlands takes place but, if there is an Android Weyland-Yutani there, it is certainly after or during the events of Stranger Movies. And if so, did the company put this Android there on it? Are they actively looking for other extraterrestrial killers in the universe? Or did Thia end up on this planet full of them?
It would be incredibly interesting if all Stranger The films we saw with Weyland-Yutani (which must be mentioned, are also at the front and at the center of the show this summer Alien: earth) only represented one ribbon of the company’s efforts to acquire extraterrestrial creatures to study. Maybe the xenomorph is not the only target. Perhaps as a branch of the company goes away after Xenos, another is after the predators, and another is after these giant things in the Badlands trailer, and God knows what else. Or, if none of this is true, what will the company do if it will discover the knowledge of this wide variety of creatures?
Oh, and will this connection lead to a new film where extraterrestrials and predators go against each other? Could this even happen in this specific film? We do not have answers to any of these questions, but they are damn fun to ask anyway, hence our obsession for this first Predator: Badlands trailer and it’s exciting Stranger Easter Egg. The film opens on November 7.
