Rana playfully asked, “Aray, aray, main girlfriend hu kya aapki?” which roughly translates to “Oh, am I your girlfriend or something?” The fan immediately removed his hand but continued with the photo.
The leader, imperturbable and smiling for the cameras, seemed well adapted to the situation. Rana later mentioned that he is on his way to Australia, where he will represent India in the ODI and T20I series.

Harshit Rana last played for Team India in the 2025 Asia Cup
Harshit is among the few cricketers whose career flourished under the mentorship of Gautam Gambhir. However, some critics have questioned the fairness of his selection, suggesting that Gambhir might favor Rana due to their shared roots with the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).
Rana endured a tough outing against Sri Lanka in the Super Fours of the 2025 Asia Cup. The 23-year-old was hit hard by the Sri Lankan batsmen, finishing with figures of 1/54 in four overs. India achieved a victory over Sri Lanka and won the tournament.
Rana is still early in his international career, having played just 10 matches across all formats since his Test debut in Australia last year. He appeared in two Tests for India, taking four wickets. The pacer also played five ODIs, picking up 10 wickets at an economy rate of 5.69.
Constant Yes-Man to Gautam Gambhir – Kris Srikkanth criticizes Harshit Rana’s selection
Former coach Kris Srikkanth criticized Harshit’s selection in the national team. Srikkanth also said that Rana is a constant blessing for Gautam Gambhir, adding that he does not deserve a place in the team.
“You don’t pick some players even if they do well and don’t take others even if they don’t. The best thing is to be like Harshit Rana and be a constant yes-man to Gambhir to get selected,” he said in a recent YouTube video.
“You should start building towards the 2027 World Cup. But I think that is not the case. If you pick Harshit Rana and Nitish Kumar Reddy among the odds, then you can say goodbye to the trophy,” Srikkanth added.
