Vaibhav Suryavanshi skips VHT match for the prize

Vaibhav Suryavanshi is expected to miss Bihar’s remaining Vijay Hazare Trophy campaign. He also skipped the ongoing clash against Manipur at the JSCA International Stadium Complex in Ranchi.

President Murmu will pay homage to Suryavanshi

The 14-year-old traveled to Delhi to attend the Prime Minister’s National Childhood Award ceremony. They will pay tribute there for his exceptional performances and achievements.

The Rashtrapati Bhavan will hold the ceremony with President Draupadi Murmu to honor the children. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will also meet the awardees at the event.

The Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar (PMRBP) is India’s highest civilian honor awarded to children aged 5 to 18 years. It recognizes outstanding achievements in areas such as courage, sports, science, innovation, social service, art and culture, and environmental work.

Ojha confirms

After the ceremony, Suryavanshi will join the Indian Under-19 team and travel to Zimbabwe. The team is preparing for the next World Cup, which begins on January 15.

“Vaibhav will not play today’s match as he is in Delhi to attend the Prime Minister’s National Children’s Award ceremony. He will be honored at the ceremony. He was expected to report at 7 am for the ceremony,” Ojha confirmed to Hindustan Times.

Ojha added: “He will miss the rest of the Vijay Hazare Trophy as he has to sync up for the U19 World Cup and will therefore join the rest of the Indian team for the preparatory matches.”

Suryavanshi’s record

Earlier this week, Suryavanshi scored 190 runs off 84 balls against Arunachal Pradesh. He hit 16 fours and 15 sixes. Powered by his explosive knock, Bihar posted a world record score of 574/6 in 50 overs.

The left-handed batter completed his hundred off just 36 balls. With this milestone, Suryavanshi also became the youngest centurion in the history of List A cricket.
