A University of Iowa student who was arrested Wednesday after police say he overturned a Turning Point USA table on campus had been arrested days earlier for a similar alleged act against the school’s Young America’s Foundation (YAF) group.
A criminal complaint against Justin Calhoon says he overturned a YAF table on campus on October 27. He was arrested Oct. 31 and charged with disorderly conduct, fifth-degree criminal mischief and third-degree harassment, according to arrest records.
The complaint says Calhoon left a residence hall early in the afternoon and was caught by campus surveillance approaching the YAF table and displaying “disruptive and aggressive behavior.”

“Upon his arrival, the accused disrupted their gathering by overturning the groups [sic] table, made obscene gestures and shouted profanities, including “s— my d—,” while knocking over the group,” the complaint states. She also notes that some YAF property was damaged.
A second criminal complaint relating to the same incident states that a female YAF member “expressed concern for her personal safety and well-being if contact continued with the organization due to fear of potential future threats.”
Only a week after his first arrest on campus, Calhoon was arrested again Wednesday after allegedly knocking over a Turning Point USA table.
Video of that incident shows a man identified by police as Calhoon lunge at the table, pulling it toward him and flipping it onto its side while promotional materials from Turning Point spilled onto the sidewalk.

He was arrested hours later and charged with two counts of disorderly conduct, fifth-degree criminal mischief and two counts of third-degree harassment.
The Turning Point sorority also felt intimidated.
“The incident visibly shook the group and disrupted their event,” states a criminal complaint following the incident. “They were forced to move their table and reported feeling exhausted and intimidated, especially since all the members present were women.”

In response to a request for comment on Calhoon’s confrontation with Turning Point, the University of Iowa said students are expected to adhere to certain standards of conduct, but did not say whether Calhoon had, or would be, disciplined.

“All Iowa students are expected to follow the Student Life Code, which establishes standards for student behavior and conduct. Although the results of these investigations are considered confidential, discipline is based on the severity of the violation,” a university spokesperson told Fox News Digital.
The spokesperson also said the school believed in freedom of speech.

“The University of Iowa is fully committed to free speech, annually requiring First Amendment training for all students and frequently communicating its expectations for tolerance of different viewpoints,” the spokesperson said.
The University of Iowa did not respond to a request for comment regarding Calhoon’s run-in at YAF.
