Tough Calls to Take by Harmanpreet Team

WPL 2026: Two-time champions MI will struggle to name their retentions ahead of the auction later this month.
It wouldn’t be wrong to say that MI have been one of the most successful teams in the WPL, winning the competition twice. Now, with that kind of track record, it would be nearly impossible for team management to come up with a list of just five retentions. Of course, the most obvious choice will be Harmanpreet Kaur, but knowing who else makes the cut will be a big challenge.
All teams must submit their retention lists by November 5, while the WPL 2026 auction will take place on November 26-27. So, Insidesport takes a look at the MI retention list predicted for WPL 2026.
MI Retention List Expected for WPL 2026
Undoubtedly, World Cup-winning skipper Harmanpreet would be retained, as would England skipper Natalie Sciver-Brunt, but the rest of the others could be a tough choice, given the tight budget each has. In fact, to get these two players, MI would spend a minimum of INR 6 Cr, with only 9 Cr in the bank.
Retention 1 (INR 3.50 crores): Harmanpreet Kaur (c)
Retention 2 (INR 2.50 crores): Nat Sciver-Brunt
Retention 3 (INR 1.75 crore):Amanjot Kaur
Retention 4 (INR 1.00 crore): Hayley Matthews
Retention 5 (INR 50.00 lakh): G Kamalini (uncapped)
RTM: 0
Left handbag: 5.75 million INR
However, third on the list could be Indian all-rounder Amanjot Kaur, who had a decent World Cup campaign and put in some good performances for the team. Hayley Matthews is the top wicket-taker in the league and is also a good hitter, so she should come in at 4th place for retention.
As for the uncapped players, the choice should be quite simple in the person of G Kamalini, who was part of the victorious U19 World Cup team.
