Tony Bellew has his final words on Chris Eubank Jr vs Conor Benn 2: ‘He could stop him this time’

Seven months after Chris Eubank Jr beat Conor Benn, both men are ready to go back to history, and Tony Bellew has now shared his thoughts on the rematch.

A quarter of a century after his father’s initial triumph over Nigel Benn, Eubank Jr replicated his success and scored a famous unanimous decision victory over Conor Benn in April.

Now, just months after a difficult weight loss and a trip to the hospital, Eubank Jr, 36, is looking to do the double against his nemesis, once again hampered by a 160-pound weight limit and restrictive rehydration clause.

Speaking at a SportingTalk press conference ahead of the rematch, former cruiserweight world champion Bellew believes the second leg of this rivalry may have come too soon for Eubank.

“With how quickly this fight is happening, it will benefit Conor Benn more; the younger man will be the fresher man.

I don’t want to favorite it, but [because] the older, heavier man [Eubank] will become stronger later in the fight.

I just feel like he learned more from the last fight, Conor Benn, and I think maybe this time he’ll get rid of him. [inside of the distance].

He stood him up two or three times [in the last fight] and he just didn’t have the courage to put pressure on him.

Eubank and Benn will headline the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this weekend; joined by Adam Azim, Jack Catterall and Ishmael Davis on the undercard.
