Tia Mowry Open to Disney Return in ‘Twitches 3’ With Twin Sister Tamera

Tia And Tamera Mowry first starred in the Disney Channel original movie “Twitches” in 2005. The Halloween movie about long-lost twin sisters who discover each other and their magical powers on their 21st birthday became a Disney classic, spawning a sequel in which the iconic actresses conquered the “darknesses” once again. Now that 20 years have passed since the original, Millennials and early Gen Z fans are clamoring for a third film, and Tia and Tamera are ready and willing to show up. What Tia says about starring in a third ‘Twitches’ movie with her sister, Tamera Mowry
During an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Tia responded to fans’ demand, saying that she and Tamera were ready to sign on the dotted line, but needed Disney to get on board first. “Come on,” she said excitedly. “It’s Disney. Come on, Disney. You’ve got a yes from me; you’ve got a yes from Tamera. So let’s go, Disney!”
In a previous interview with TV Insider, Tamera also expressed interest in returning for a third film. “I mean, I would love to. I would love to,” she said. “I think there are a lot of things that should line up. And then there’s so much pressure when the original was so iconic.”

Tia and Tamera Mowry have been working together since the 90s
Tia and Tamera worked together on screen long before their Disney film, when they starred in their hit sitcom, “Sister, Sister,” where they played long-lost twin sisters reunited as teenagers. A few years later, in 2000, the girls appeared in “Seventeen Again” as Sydney and Cat, two sisters who have to deal with their grandfather’s age-changing experience. Early on, the legendary actresses starred in several double-issue films, including “Twitches” and “Double Wedding,” a Lifetime film in which the couple was unknowingly dating the same man. From 2011 to 2013, they filmed an explosive reality series, “Tia & Tamera,” which showcased their complex relationship as sisters as well as their plan to reinvent themselves in an industry they had worked in for nearly two decades.

Tamera Mowry says her mother advocated for her and Tia when they were younger
Even though they had incredible success in front of the camera, Tamera revealed that it took a while for her and Tia to get paid fairly for their work.
“We were 18 or 19 years old and she had done her research and she realized that there were certain people in the entertainment business who were making more money and she knew that my sister and I were putting in the time, the work, but not only that, we were successful,” she said.
Tamera said her mother then intervened on their behalf. “She believed in us. And in believing in us, we saw this strength and we believed in ourselves,” she said.

“And my sister and I became, at one point, one of the highest paid actresses on a pre-teen family show and that started with my mom and us knowing our worth and, again, expressing what we believe is right,” Tamera added.

Was there tension between the sisters?
In 2024, Tia and Tamera’s relationship came under scrutiny after both sisters shared unusual statements about each other during interviews and television appearances.
During Tia’s reality series, “My Next Act,” she got candid about how difficult life has been since filing for divorce and not being as close to her sister. “Being alone was the hardest part of my divorce,” she said. “It’s times like this that I feel and wish that my sister and I were still close and that I could pick up the phone and call her. But that’s just not where we are right now.”
Tamera, for her part, revealed she had no idea the “Instant Mom” actress was filming an unscripted series, saying Tia probably wanted it to be her own thing, and she respected that.
Tia clarifies relationship with her sister
Recently, Tia finally set the record straight on rumors of tension between her and her sister, revealing that things have changed as they’ve gotten older. “The world is so used to seeing us all together, but at the end of the day, we all grow up. We all have our own families,” she said.
However, that doesn’t mean they’re in a bad situation. In fact, the two have spent the last few months working together again on different opportunities, including HomeGoods’ “Deck the Everything Day.” Tia also revealed that since she made headlines last year, she and Tamera have made a vow to call each other on Sundays to debrief. “…as long as we make time for each other, that’s all that matters,” she added.
