Jacksonville’s head coach Liam Coen provided a context that could explain the difficulties of the receiver of the star Brian Thomas Jr. during the defeat of 31-27 on Sunday in Cincinnati during a zoom call on Monday with journalists.

According to Coen, Thomas was faced with a wrist injury which was not reported in the official report on the team’s injuries in advance of the Bengal match. He recorded four catches for 49 yards on 12 targets and received online reviews for a few drops and a lack of perceived effort.

“We are going to have a conversation here shortly. In the end, he has a few things that happen, had a wrist injury in the match,” said Coen. “Has that played a role in some of these things? I have to go talk to him. I think he is aware of it and must have a better week this week. I think he understands what is at stake, he understands what is going on and we have to go to the root.”

Thomas, 22, was the 23rd choice in total in the draft of last year’s NFL of LSU. He finished fourth in the offensive recruit of the year to vote last season after having amassed 1,282 yards and 10 affected.

During two games this season, he has only five captures for 60 yards on 19 targets and no reception affected, although he had a hit in a 9 yards throw.

Jacksonville (1-1) welcomes Houston (0-1) Sunday after the Texans played Monday evening against Tampa Bay.
