When Ghost riderThe last of the pre-MCU films, turned into a surprise success and a sequel was announced, the fans were excited and pumped for more living dead Nicolas Cage. It lasted until 2011 when the film hit theaters, and from the very first scene, it was clear that Rider Ghost: Spirit of revenge was either the result of thousands of bad choices, or he was sent by Mephisto to punish us, but now it has become a top ten at the top to appear on Netflix.
Rider Ghost: Spirit of revenge is an autonomous sequence that has no connection with the first film with the exception of Johnny Blaze by Nic Cage, the cursed motorcycle stuntman to be the ship of the spirit of revenge. Now wandering in Europe, Johnny recruited by a drunk monk, Moreau, played by Idris Elba to keep a young child, Danny Ketch (in the comics, the second ghost rider) outside the claws of Roarke, a rich businessman who wants to transfer his mind to the child’s body. Roarke is shown by using the power of hell to corrupt his man in a hench, giving him the power to stand against the Ghost Rider like Blackout, a nasty of the comics with which he shares no link other than the name and a similar appearance.
The Ghost Rider comics of the 90s did not become among the best -selling in the industry for their deep plots. They presented the very cool flamboyant rider against the forces of hell, and fortunately, this is what the majority of the film is concentrated with a series of extensive continuing sequences. In the best scene in the film, Johnny Blaze takes control of a massive mining machine and supports it with the power of the rider, creating a hellish beast of 20 tonnes, but also cool that the moment is, it is not worth taking all the budget so that they had to film the first draft of the script.
I don’t know if it was, but writing in Rider Ghost: Spirit of revenge is tied with a good piece of fan fiction. The script was written by David S. Goyer, a talented writer who worked on the Blade trilogy, each film by Christopher Nolan Batman, and he is behind Appletv Foundation. So, what did not go wrong to transform the continuation of Ghost Rider into a boring slog which is not even a fun watch in the way “so bad that it is a good” way of Sony films?
The answer is there in the credits: Mark Nevedine and Brian Taylor made Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance, and you may not recognize these names, but the pair wrote and made the crank of Jason Statham, Jonah Hex of DC, and the Gerard Butler Cult Hit Gamer. This explains why the film ignores concepts such as characters’ development and intrigue to focus almost entirely on action. However, it is clear that the Ghost Rider VFX put a shock absorber on the Madhouse kinetic style of their previous films. It is a wide range of talents on paper, but in practice, it seems that everyone moves half speed.
Nicolas Cage obtains one of his greatest Moments Freakout, but it is at the cost of abandoning all the development of the character of the first film. Instead of the sinister and determined fire which left in the night after defeating the Legion, the fire of the suite is a crazy disarticulated barely in control. Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance is trying to explain the change, and as absurd as it may seem, it is quite comical (unless there is another Retcon that I missed), but that does not help the constant feeling that the film is slightly offset, and perhaps something was missing in the publishing, or it is entirely composed of first taken.
Ghost rider It was not an incredible film, and it lacks the characteristics of the MCU which only came only year later, but Wes Bentley as Legion and Sam Elliot as an old Gunslinger driver made him fun. Spirit of revenge I cannot find the right balance between dark action and slapstick, leading to an unequal tone from one scene to another. Prepare to watch Ghost Rider Pee Fire.
With box office transport of only $ 150 million, Rider Ghost: Spirit of revenge is one of the least efficient Marvel films this century, and even Wonders Or Ant-Man: Quantumania Have the appeal as Freak Side show attractions that are at least linked to a wider story. Johnny Blaze’s adventure is a complete autonomous who wants him to have the offbeat attraction of Morbius. It is such a strange film that the marketing team did not know how to manage it, and in order to collapse at every moment of the rider in action, ended up showing the very last moment of action in the trailers.

It is a shame that Ghost Rider did not stay because the character is very cool, but again, making brief appearances and being ignored for years is the most comical part of the hero live.
