The US Chamber of Commerce asks Trump Administrator to take measures to save small American businesses’ ”

The United States Chamber of Commerce warned in a new letter to the Trump administration that small businesses need automatic tariff exclusions that could undermine their ability to survive.
The Chamber wrote on Thursday to the Secretary of the Treasury Scott Bessent, the commercial secretary Howard Lutnick and the US trade representative Jamieson Greer to express their concerns concerning the ability of small businesses to manage the financial success of the prices and to call small businesses to be excluded from the prices, as well as other aid measures of the price.
The letter indicates that the Chamber and its members “appreciate your efforts to negotiate bilateral agreements with other nations in order to achieve zero reciprocity on prices and reduce non -pricing obstacles to trade”, affirming that such transactions would increase American exports, will support more jobs and higher salaries.
“Although we hope that these agreements can be concluded quickly, we are deeply concerned about the fact that even if it only takes weeks or months to conclude agreements, many small businesses will undergo irreparable damage every day.

The Chamber asked the Trump administration “to take immediate measures to save small companies from America and eliminate a recession” taking three measures on the prices using its authority.
The first of them would be an automatic exclusion for small companies of small businesses, because the room maintains that small businesses “do not have the margin or capital reserves to maintain increased prices, and they also have the capacity to quickly modify the supply chains”.
The second action requested by the Chamber is automatic tariff exclusions for products that cannot come from the United States or is not easily available from national sources to protect businesses and consumers against higher costs. These articles which are currently exposed to prices include coffee, bananas, cocoa and certain minerals, while demand also applies to “many other custom -made industrial inputs to American manufacturers”.

The third request for a pricing policy consists of a process for companies “to quickly obtain exclusions in situations where the company can demonstrate that, as applied, the price imposes significant risks on US employment”. The letter noted that more than 40 million American jobs are based on trade and that it is “imperative” to protect and develop these jobs to stimulate economic growth and prosperity.
“The Chamber supports many political objectives of the president, including eliminating the unfair and non-exchange obstacles and stimulates American investments,” said Suzanne P. Clark, president and chief executive officer of the American Chamber of Commerce, in a press release. “At the same time, we have heard a historic number of small businesses that have clearly indicated: they need immediate relief of prices.”
“Over the day, small businesses are increasingly threatened by higher costs and interrupted supply chains that will cause irreparable damage,” she said. “We applaud the efforts of the administration to negotiate as many new trade agreements as possible that expand market access for American companies and benefit American workers, but these transactions take time, and many companies simply cannot afford to wait while the negotiations are taking place.”

The deputy chief of staff of the White House for politics, Stephen Miller, was questioned about the letter from the Chamber of Commerce during a press briefing on Thursday and said that small businesses would come from tax packaging that the Trump administration and the republicans of the congress are looking to advance in the coming months.
“Relief for small businesses will come in the form of the highest tax reduction in American history,” said Miller, adding that the package will be spent 100% for investment in the United States and criticized the Democrats to oppose the bill.
“It will be the tax invoice of the most pro-small companies in American history. And at the same time, this is what you must understand on the plan, is that they are able to do so, because they are able to reshape these supply chains, this also means that they will not pay a price. So you will have the lowest tax environment and that their production and their supply chains will therefore be United States, “said Miller.

In a follow -up issue, Miller was asked if his answer meant that there would be no short -term price relief for small businesses.
“This is a yes on tax relief for small businesses. And again, you only pay the price for products made outside the United States,” said Miller.
