The Boston Red Sox will enter Wednesday’s match against the Texas Rangers visiting playing like a team that needs a jolt, but don’t expect to see a type of upheaval that includes Rafael Devers playing the first goal.

Before Tuesday, the defeat of Boston 6-1 against Texas, the manager of the Red Sox, Alex Cora, reiterated that the team did not intend to use Devers to the first goal to replace Triston Casas, who will miss the rest of the season after knee surgery.

Cora said he hadn’t had a conversation with the possibility of moving it to the first base and does not intend to have one.

“I’m not worried,” said Cora, even if Tuesday’s defeat was Boston’s fifth in the last six games. “It’s part of the season. Are we satisfied with what’s going on? Of course not. We think we are better, and that has not happened, right? But we will continue to work. We are better. We know it. I hope as soon as possible.”

It seems that the Red Sox will use a peloton from Romy Gonzalez and Abraham Toro to replace Casas – at least for the short term. Gonzalez started eight games at the first base this season. Toro, who was called from Triple-A Worcester on Saturday, made his first start to the first goal for Boston on Tuesday evening and went 1 for 3 to marble.

“We stay the course,” said Cora. “We had these two guys here. Romy did an incredible job in his starts there. We will continue to continue.”

Toro, 28, hit 0.310 with two circuits and 13 points produced in 28 games with Worcester.

“A good At-Bat. Good defender. Versatile,” said Cora when Toro asked him. “He has a fairly good idea offensively. He knows what he wants to do. He hunts the grounds in certain areas and he executes. He is patient, he can slow him down.”

The Rangers scored 14 points in their last two games after being kept 30 points during a 2-9 section. Texas scored half of these 30 points in a victory over athletics on April 29.

The Texas achieved 16 shots in Tuesday’s victory, which was the team’s first match because it hired Bret Boone as a strike coach. Josh Smith has achieved seven strokes in his last two games.

“I’m going to make a lot of listening right now, which is not my strong,” said Boone. “I want to listen now and speak less and get to know these guys, see what makes them vibrate. It is a different game now. These children come in a different culture. There are more data. There are a lot of figures, which I have not had in my time. But at the end of the day, but it has still not changed for 150 years.”

The Texas will send the right-hander Tyler Mahle (3-1, 1.19 ERA) to the mound for the midst of the three-game series. Mahle has an MPM of 4.26 with a pair of non-chief career starts against the Red Sox.

Righty Tanner Houck (0-2, 6.38 ERA) should start the Boston mound. Houck is 0-1 with an MPM of 6.23 in its appearance of a solitary career against the Rangers.
