The TPS collection for Aug AGS increases by 6.5% over the year to Rs 1.86 Lakh crores

The product and services tax collection (TPS) for the month of August was recorded at 6.5% more than the same period the previous year at Rs 1.86 Lakh crores. According to government data, CGST amounted to Rs 34,076 crore, while SGS rose to Rs 42,854 crore, and Igst rose to Rs 97 186 crore. Cess amounted to Rs 12 199 crosses in August.

The TPS collection for the previous month was, however, higher than in August to Rs 1.96 Lakh crores, according to government data. The collection had reached its highest note in April to Rs 2,37 Lakh crore.

Ruty interior income increased by 9.6% to Rs 1.37 Lakh believed in August. However, taxes received from imports dropped by 1.2% to Rs 49,354 crosses during the same period.

TPS reimbursements experienced a 20% decrease in annual sliding, amounting to Rs 19.359 crosses. Despite this, TPS net revenues reached RS 1.67 Lakh believed in August 2025, marking growth of 10.7% compared to the previous year.

The collection comes two days before the meeting of the TPS council which will deliberate on the rationalization of rates and the reduction in the number of tax slabs. According to sources, the structure of inverted rights remains a challenge, especially when rates can be reduced to 5% or exempt, while most input services continue to be taxed at 18%.
