Manchester United did not sign Conor Gallagher from Atletico Madrid after taking a late step for him.
They wanted to sign the 25 -year -old England international, but Spanish outfit does not want to sanction his departure, according to Ben Jacobs. Gallagher will now continue the Spanish club this season.
Conor Gallagher would have been a quality signature
Gallagher has been linked to a return to the Premier League in recent weeks, and move to Manchester United could have been interesting. Manchester United certainly needs more quality and depth in the middle of the park, and the English international would have been a quality acquisition.
He showed his abilities in the Premier League with Chelsea and Crystal Palace. There is no doubt that it is good enough for Manchester United, and he would have added physicality, defensive coverage and conduct on the side.
Man United still lacks in the midfield and defense
Manchester United has done well to improve their attack unit this summer, but the midfielder and the defense always need more quality. It will be interesting to see if they can spend the season with the options currently available to them. A club of their stature will have to fight for trophies and put pressure for a finish in the first four. They were quite disappointing last season and they finished in the lower half of the league table.
Ruben Amorim has a lot of pressure to run things, and it remains to be seen if he can get the most out of his current team. Manchester United took a mediocre start for the Premier League campaign, and they will seek to bounce strongly in the coming weeks.
