The world of music sings a sweetness-bit melody as it is said to be goodbye to Jill Sobule, the animated singer-songwriter who gave us the daring and eye-catching anthem from 1995 I kissed a girl.
Sobule died tragically at the age of 66 in a house fire in Minneapolis on May 1, as confirmed by his representative Variety.
His manager and his longtime friend John Porter has paid a sincere tribute, saying: “Jill Sobule was a force of nature and the human rights defender whose music is woven in our culture. I had so much fun working with her. I lost a client and a friend today. I hope that his music, memory and heritage will continue to live and inspire others. ”
While she was originally to perform at the Toft Theater of Swallow Hill Music on May 2 in her hometown of Denver, the scene will now serve a different objective – an informal rally to celebrate her life.
A formal memorial is planned for the summer, giving fans and friends a chance to honor their heritage correctly.
Born in 1959, Sobule made her musical debut in 1990 with the album Things here are differentBut it was its eponymous release from 1995 which really touched a sensitive string.

Known for his intelligent and socially conscious words and a style of performance that has never been a little bizarre (in the best way), Sobule always thought about the power of connection and communication a few days before his death.
In an interview of April 22 with Cincinnati MagazineShe shared: “I am certainly not used to the tip of the feet. It is therefore interesting and even wonderful to understand what you can get out of it and how you can always link to people who do not agree with you.”
