The “ regret ” of Diego Simeone on the conflict with Liverpool fans in Anfield after the boss of Atletico Madrid reacts to “ insults ” | Football news

The boss of Atletico Madrid, Diego Simeone, said that he regretted his confrontation with Liverpool fans at the end of their dramatic confrontation of the Champions League in Anfield, but revealed that he had been launched by “insults” that he had received throughout the match.
Virgil Van Dijk’s winner for Liverpool, after Atletico retaliated with two goals to equalize the game, triggered crashes on the sideline that made Simeone argued with fans behind his canoe.
The commissioners had to intervene in the flash point before Simeone was sent by referee Maurizio Mariani.
“ They shouted insults throughout the game ”
Simeone said: “When they scored the third goal, he turned around and insulted me. I am a person, I am human.”
When they were asked more about the insults, Simeone added: “They shouted the insults throughout the match behind the bench and I can’t say anything because I am a coach.
“Obviously, my reaction is not justifiable, I insulted it. But it was 90 minutes to be insulted all the time, then you turn around, when your opponent has marked, and they always insult you. It’s not that simple.
“I’m not really going to enter the exact nature of the insults. I don’t want to get into this discussion. I know what happened behind the manager’s bench. I can’t solve society’s problems in a press conference. I have to live with that because it happens all the time.”
UEFA will await the referee’s report before deciding on any possible sanction after Simeone’s red card, but the boss of Atletico said he hoped that Liverpool would take measures.
“I hope that a team like Liverpool can improve this part,” he added.
“When they identify the person who did this, they should have its consequences.
“But the person who needs to stay calm and take the insults is me. In my place, you just have to take it.”
The incident came after Marcos Llorente continued his remarkable record in Anfield, marking two others to add to the double that he scored in their only victory here in 2020 while Atletico retaliated by 2-0 to level the match.
However, Van Dijk’s goal sealed Liverpool’s victory and triggered the crash on the sideline that saw Simeone See Red.
