The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) filed a complaint with the Mumbai police against Netflix shows the Bollywood BA *** DS, which shows the actor Ranbir Kapoor using the prohibited electronic cigarette on the screen without warning or statutory warning, according to the Ani news agency.

The agency also said that the NHRC had also written to the Secretary of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, urging the ministry to take the appropriate measures to restrict this content. The Commission expressed feared that such representations, if they were unregulated, could influence young audiences.
The NHRC also discussed a letter to the Mumbai police commissioner, recommending the registration of a first information report (FIR) against Ranbir Kapoor, producers of the show, the production company and the Netflix streaming platform. The complaint cited an alleged violation of the 2019 law on the law of the prohibition of electronic cigarettes, which prohibits the promotion, use and demonstration of electronic cigarettes in India.
Although no official charge has yet been confirmed, FIR’s request has sparked discussions on content guidelines and compliance on OTT platforms. The NHRC highlighted the importance of responsible content, especially when it involves potentially harmful products or behaviors.
