The new TCL smartphone uses the latest version of its eye comfort screen technology

TCL highlights a new phone at IFA 2025. Late entering the modern mobile market, the company is trying to differentiate its devices with the screen technology of the Oekfort NXTPAPER. The new NXTPAPER 60 Ultra is TCL’s first phone to present the latest version of this technology, which it first introduced in a tablet in CES 2025.

The idea behind NXTPAPER is to find a balance between electronic paper and OLED screens, attenuating eye fatigue without sacrificing the range of colors or cooling rates. Its material features include the filtering of blue light, a matte anti-e-frying layer and a brightness control without a sparkle. One of its most interesting aspects is INK mode, which can be transformed into a type E INK presentation with the press of a dedicated button. TCL says that the 2025 version of the Tech display (NXTPAPER 4.0) provides sharper details, more precise colors and eye comfort modes based on AI.

Looking beyond the characteristics of the eye effort, the NXTPAPER 60 Ultra is an Android mid-range phone. It has a spacious 7.2 inch screen with a 120 Hz refreshment rate with a resolution of 1080p. It is powered by a Mediatek Dimensity 7400 and 12 GB of RAM processor. (An additional 12 GB is available via virtual RAM.) The phone has a configuration to three cameras, including a 50MP periscope Telephoto sensor. (This camera provides a 3X optical zoom and a 6x “lossless” zoom via the digital cunning.) The phone has a 5,200 mAh battery.

At least for the moment, the NXTPAPER 60 Ultra only launches out in Europe, in Latin America and in Asian markets. It will be available there later this month, at a price of € 499 for 256 GB of storage and € 549 for 512 GB.
