Walt Disney Imagineering is at the first stages of the prototyping of a new experience of augmented reality in its theme parks. This week, the team has published a video showing Meta Ray-Ban intelligent glasses used as a personal virtual assistant in Disneyland.
Meta is only one of the companies with Disney Imagineering R&D works on AR. The Ray-Ban intelligent glasses allow the guests to Disney to ask questions aloud and to receive real-time answers with information on rides, attractions, goods, food and directions.

The video shows a Disney actor walking through Disneyland carrying meta-rays. As she approaches the attraction of the paddleboat, she asks: “What is it, and how can I mount it?”
“It is the boat of the Mark Twain river,” reply the glasses powered by AI. “It’s nearby and you can embark for a 14 -minute relaxing cruise.”
She wonders: “Where can I get a gluten-free snack?” The answer is, at a stand nearby, with the glasses offering to check the full menu for it. She also asks if a certain conduct is appropriate for her 4-year-old child and focuses on the Porg keychain of a guest to wonder: “Where can I get one?” He replies by telling him that he comes from a Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge store.
Another part shows the glasses suggesting activities. “The Caribbean pirates currently have a short waiting time. Do you want directions?” And “Winnie l’Ourson is nearby, do you want to meet him?”
On Wednesday, Meta’s latest rays were unveiled. SECOND METHAIN-METAUNTTES have received AI upgrades, better battery life and an improved camera. They are now available for $ 379.
Augmented reality experiences have become a means for themed parks to distinguish themselves from competition. Earlier this year, Universal opened its brand new themed park, Epic Universe, with a mixture of immersive technology.
Disney does not hesitate to use the latest technologies in its parks and experiences. There are portable devices for the park and the entrance to the hotel room, new haunted manor illusions and applications to check driving waiting times or voting for night entertainment of that evening. Let us not forget the last animatronics of Walt Disney or the revolutionary Holotile soil of Disney.
