An 18-year-old French man who claimed affiliation with the Misogynous “Incel” movement (involuntary single) was arrested and placed under an official suspected investigation of attacks targeting women, the national anti-terrorist prosecutor of France (PNAT) announced on Wednesday.
This is the first time that PNAT has taken a matter linked to the “Elderly” movement, an online network of men motivated to engage in violence against women who, according to them, unfairly reject their sexual or romantic advances.

On Tuesday, the PNAT confirmed that he had opened a judicial investigation “against an 18 -year -old young man, claiming to be a member of the Incel movement”, adding that he was investigated to “associate terrorist criminals to prepare one or more crimes against people”.
A source close to the investigation confirmed that the French media reports that the suspect had been arrested near a school in the Saint-Etienne region in the center of France and that the man, who wore two knives, was suspected of having planned to attack women.
