The largest fire in France for decades, which broke out on Tuesday in the southern department of Aude, was “controlled”, local authorities announced on Thursday. The fire, which those responsible have linked to climate change and prolonged drought, killed a person, injured at least 13 years and destroyed thousands of hectares of land.
