Erik Menendez back in prison after the hospitalization of kidney stones

Erik Menéndez returned to prison after being temporarily transferred to a hospital in San Diego last month for what his lawyer described as a “serious medical condition”.

“My father got out of the hospital and back in prison, preparing for our next parole hearing,” said Erik’s daughter-in-law, Talia MenéndezShared via Instagram Stories, TMZ reported on Sunday August 3.

Talia previously shared in late July that Erik, 54, had been admitted to the hospital to treat painful kidney stones. “Today, Erik underwent his second operation due to complications with the two kidneys with several large stones,” she wrote via Instagram Stories at the time.

On July 24, Erik’s wife, Tammisaid via X that Erik had undergone two surgeries and was waiting for a third.

“Today, Erik has undergone a 2nd surgical intervention. This surgery has succeeded. He will need a 3rd surgery which, hopefully, will happen soon,” wrote Tammi. “Because Erik is in prison, there are a lot of complications and delays with surgery. Tonight, he remains nauseous and suffers from surgery.”

She added: “We thank everyone for their good wishes and prayers. Complications occur in surgery, but it is a very stressful moment for us. In addition, we are grateful to the CRT and medical staff who have done their best in this difficult situation. ”

On July 22, Erik and his brother Lyle Menéndezlawyer, Mark Geragostold TMZ that Erik knew a medical emergency, although it was not more elaborated in the exact state of Erik.

“This is a serious condition and I think he must have come out to focus on the hearing,” he added. “I don’t want to get into the weeds of the medical condition, but I think it’s the appropriate thing to do.”

Erik and Lyle, 57, are currently imprisoned at the Correctional Center of Richard J. Donovan in San Diego, California, after being found guilty of the murders of their 1989 parents, José And Kitty Menéndez. The couple was found guilty of first degree murder in 1996 and was initially sentenced to life prison without parole.

However, after their case drew renewed attention, thanks in part to the dramatic series of Netflix True-Crime Monsters: the story of Lyle and Erik MenéndezThe brothers were sentenced in May to 50 years for life, which now makes them eligible for parole under the Youth Youth Act in California.

Erik and Lyle should appear before a parole commission during a two -day hearing on August 21 and 22.
