The “glorious” star will be the best Rangers player this season

The central midfielder of Glasgow Rangers, Nicolas Raskin, dominated the headlines for the right reason last weekend when he marked during the victory of the League Cup in Ibrox.

The Belgian international had been excluded from the last two teams of the day in the Scottish Prime Minister, but returned to score the opening goal in front of supporters at home on Saturday.

Raskin has brilliantly met the corner of James Tavernier to direct the ball at the back of the net for the first of what will be hopefully, many goals this season.

Why Nicolas Raskin is a key player for the Rangers

Russell Martin had to bring the central midfielder back to the team as quickly as possible after the manager said that a break in trust led the player to be excluded from clashes with Celtic and heart.

The Belgian star is a great operator in the middle of the park because he can offer quality at both ends of the field, having scored five goals and provided 11 assists in all competitions last season, by Sofascore.

As you can see in the table above, Raskin was particularly impressive with regard to the defensive side of the game in the 2024/25 campaign, with its ability to disrupt attacks and reconquer possession for its side.

Despite the quality of the Belgian international in the middle of the park, it is Djeidi Gassama who has the potential to be the best player of the club this season.

Why Gassama could be the best player for the Rangers this season

The Light Blues signed Sheffield’s electric winger on Wednesday for 2.2 million pounds sterling in the summer transfer window, and has already shown many promises on the ground.

Gassama delivered four goals and a help in 12 appearances in all competitions for the Scottish giants, by TransferMarkt, showing that he can provide a large threat in the last third.

The above clip shows that the rangers signed a player who, according to them, was capable of “glorious” goals from the left flank, cutting to create something from anything.

Gassama has already shown that he can score glorious goals for the Rangers, because his first strike for the club against Panathinaikos was very similar to this goal for OWLS.

The 22 -year -old magician has the quality of simply creating something from anything when the light blues need a moment of magic, which is an incredibly precious feature to have.

Gassama has not yet scored in five games in Scottish first, unfortunately, but he was aside that had trouble progressing in the ball. As much as he can offer quality from very little, the winger must still remove the ball to isolate his man.
