The Gamesir G7 Pro is almost the perfect professional controller … almost

The term “pro” is much launched, in particular with technological equipment, and it generally refers to a version of something with more functionalities or more power than a bay model stripped. Regarding controllers, it is generally used to describe one with features such as additional retrogmable buttons, the possibility of connecting to several platforms and, of course, Effect Joysticks. Well, in a way. More about it later.

Gamesir has been doing controllers for several years now. Unfortunately, they were a little affected in terms of quality. Some, like the Super newknock it out of the park, while others, like the Cyclone 2are not impressive. However, I am happy to say that it’s new G7 Pro Controller rightly won the “pro” in his name.

Design

The G7 Pro has an almost identical design to the original G7, which in turn was similar to the Xbox controller. This is a good thing, because the Xbox controller has been one of the best controllers designed by ergonomics for many years.

The handles are one of the most notable improvements in the G7. They made up and down from different materials for the pro, which is a genius. The plastic top makes it more fluid to slide my palms and less in sweat while I reach different pimples. The rubberized lower handles give me a firm socket on the controller. They are not the first to do so, but this attention to detail is welcome.

Another neat detail is that all the accessories included, including a home station, a wireless dongle, a USB-C cable and a cable reservoir, all correspond to the color of the controller. Few companies do it and I appreciate it.

The controller also looks clean. As pleasant as the Panda pattern is on the original Xbox controller, the G7 Pro gray and white tones is simply cool. There is also a black version with a red degraded front plate if you want to follow this path. The peaks of the handles and the average front plate are all detached magnetically from the controller, giving you a cool overview of the bowels.

In my opinion, a large Miss is the lack of RGB lighting, especially since the whole of the whole under the front plate, as well as the triggers, the buttons and the additional mini-pare, are all transparent. It could have been an impressive additional addition, but there is no additional lighting other than a ring around the Xbox button.

Material

The G7 PRO is equipped with a lot of equipment, including Gamesir TMR, or the magnetresistance of tunnels, the joysticks. TMR is essentially an improved version of the Hall effect, which supposedly offers greater sustainability and reactivity. The TMR thumbs are still quite new, but so far, I appreciate them.

While hens use the TMR, triggers use the effect of the room, and there are even physical trigger stops to pass triggers from the analog room effect to micro-commutative triggers for faster response times. Since I used a controller with physical trigger stops, I cannot play without them.

Speaking of micro switches, the “Abxy” buttons are optical micro switches and the four-way D-PAD has mechanical micro switches. The D-PAD is the lowest part of the controller for me. It seems a little too pasty, and even if Gamesir includes three different caps, including a smooth circle in the hope of imitating an eight-way D-Pad, it is simply not great. It is also incredibly reactive, and I sometimes accidentally accidentally supported one of the instructions during the game. It is not a break, but something to note.

Complete equipment Razer Wolverine V3 Prowhich is more than double the price of the G7 Pro. At the bottom is a 3.5 mm headphone jack, a silent button for the microphone and a pairing button for wireless connections.

Connectivity

The G7 PRO supports PC games via a wireless wire at 2.4 GHz, Android on Bluetooth and Xbox on USB-C wire. It’s nice to see the support for more than one platform, but Gamesir could have done better here. The absence of Xbox wireless support is probably a license problem, and not pay for this helps reduce costs, but I would certainly pay a few more dollars to have it.

The absence of iOS and Switch support is also a big lack here. Again, I am sure that it is partly a license and partly to encourage people to buy another controller for different platforms, but it is still not optimal. Gamesir absolutely targets Xbox players here, so it’s not a huge surprise that these other platforms are missing.

Software

Any controller trying to be called “pro” these days must at least have remapable buttons and dead and trigger and joystick areas. Most, including the G7 Pro, offer you a lot more than that of their software applications that accompany it.

The Nexus of Gamesir app is available for Android, PC and Xbox and gives you granular checks on almost all aspects of the controller. You can even store up to four different profiles for personalized configurations for your favorite games. The software is basic in terms of user interface, but for Gamesir credit, I have never had a problem with the application. Of course, it doesn’t seem flashy, but it works better than others I used, and I prefer to work on the form any day.

Easy to recommend

In the end, I have no problem recommending the G7 Pro to anyone looking for an Xbox or an improved PC controller. The equipment is great, and although it is not as colorful as other options, the design is clean. It has all the features you might wish, including TMR thumbs, hall effect triggers and additional buttons. All that is missing is Xbox wireless support. The 10-foot USB-C cable included was very long for me, however, so that didn’t bother me. More: no recharge.

The best part is that you get it all for $ 80. Although it is still a lot of money, I have not met many other controllers who give you such a complete package at this price. Of course, you can pay more for a few additional buttons, an eight-track or X-wireless support, but at the end of the day, the G7 Pro is a fantastic controller for all those who seek to explore the world of professional controllers.
