The former CEO of Starbucks bought a house in Seattle and he orders all the staff at the office 4 days a week

Starbucks demands that some remote workers return to its head office and increase the number of days when business employees are required to work in an office.

In a letter to the employees published on Monday, the president and chief executive officer of Starbucks, Brian Niccol, said that company employees should be at the office four days a week from early October instead of three days a week.

The company based in Seattle said that all of the company’s “people” of the company were to be based in Seattle or Toronto in the 12 months. This is a change compared to February, when it forced vice-presidents to move to Seattle or Toronto.

Starbucks said individual employees working under these leaders would not be invited to move. But the company said that all hires for future roles and lateral movements will force employees to be based in Seattle or Toronto.

“We restore our disorderly culture because we do our best when we are together. We share ideas more efficiently, solve in a creative way difficult problems and evolve much more quickly, ”wrote Niccol in the letter.

Niccol said that the workers concerned who chose not to move will be eligible for a single voluntary outing program with cash payment.

While many workers have developed to work at home during the pandemic, the call to workers to return to full -time offices has increased in the past year. The main employers such as Amazon, AT&T and the federal government forced employees to work on business sites five days a week. Competition for fully rolled jobs is fierce.

Starbucks spokesperson Lori Torgerson said she had no employees who are currently working as “people’s leaders” or working at a distance. Starbucks has 16,000 corporate support employees worldwide, but this includes roasting and warehouse staff.

Niccol was not required to move to Seattle when he was hired to lead Starbucks last August. Instead, the company said it would help him set up an office near his home in Newport Beach, California, and give him the use of a business jet to get to Seattle.

Since then, Niccol has bought a house in Seattle and has been frequently seen at the company’s headquarters, Torgerson said.
