New York dishes spent a difficult weekend at home against Miami. They will seek to raise their pitch staff in a series of three games in Detroit, which begins Monday afternoon.

The dishes granted 32 points while abandoning three of the four games to the Marlins. They still have a joker point but lose ground in the face of the first place of Philadelphia in the East division of the National League.

“It’s a combination of many different things, but it starts on the mound,” said manager Carlos Mendoza. “Our starting rotation, we had quality departures against the Phillies, and we did not have much against (the Marlins). We will continue to try to put the best guys, but understanding that we have (only) a few games here in front of us. We must find this consistency.”

The left-hander Sean Manaea (1-2, 5.01 ERA) will begin the opening of the series for the dishes. Manaea is undoubtedly happy to put August in her rear view mirror after having published an MPM of 7.13 in five outings.

He only walked four strikers while withdrawing 31 in 24 rounds during the month, but also abandoned 28 strokes. His last outing was actually his best in August, because he held Philadelphia at two points in 4 2/3 rounds while displaying eight sticks to the stick. The dishes finally won a 6-5 victory during this force test on Tuesday.

Manaea’s season was delayed until mid-July due to oblique injuries and elbows. His only victory this season occurred on July 23 when he held the Los Angeles Angels in a round in five rounds.

He has a 3-2 sheet with an MPM of 3.35 in seven career departures against Detroit.

The tigers will counter with the right-hander Charlie Morton (9-10, 5.25), which is 2-2 with a decision without decision in five departures since its acquisition of Baltimore on the deadline of trade.

After winning quality outings against Minnesota and Houston, Morton granted five points and seven strokes in five rounds against athletics on Tuesday.

Morton was surprised to have abandoned so many points.

“I think my things should have increased much better than me,” he said. “You might think that I would have had a better result. I threw strikes, my things were good, I swung and missed and generally when that happens, the result is ok.”

The manager AJ Hinch would like Morton to use his curve ball more often.

“He has a good speed, he has movement and his change is really good,” said Hinch. “But most of his game planning goes and goes with the breakup ball. When he moves away from it, if you look at the damage that has been caused, it is generally not on this ground.”

Morton knows the dishes enough. He faced them 26 times in his career, going 7-7 with a 3.75 MPM.

Juan Soto was a great success against Morton with eight strokes in 14 official bats – including three circuits – as well as eight walks. At the other end of the spectrum, Morton gave Francisco Lindor adjustments (average of 0.160 in 50 bundles, 13 stick withdrawals).

The Tigers tightened their grip at first place in the central division of the American League during the weekend, taking two of the three games on the road against Kansas City, second place.
