The fan of Beyoncé recounts the experience of “dehumanization” during the singer’s concert

A fan of Beyoncé shared the “dehumanizing” experience she suffered during the Shing’s Tottenham Hotspur Show in June, causing a reactions barrier for Internet users.

Esther Obigbesan told Eddie Nestor de BBC Radio Radio London that she had bought a standing VIP ticket worth more than $ 650, hoping for more comfort due to her visual impairment, according to the Daily mail.

She claimed to have contacted the suppliers of tickets to explain her accessibility needs but received no response, even on the day of the concert.

Although her initial entry into the place went well, things changed when she tried to access the VIP pit. Obigbesan said that she had been arrested by security, who was barking several times to her and her companions, saying: “She can’t go.”

The security agents would have asked the Obigbesan to hand over his cane, saying that the canes were not authorized in the section she had paid. Even after explaining that it was a visual aid, they insisted that it abandoned it before granting its access.

According to Obigbesan, the incident rocked his confidence and his feeling of independence, which is why she described experience as dehumanizing.

“As if they didn’t see me as a person. I was just this problem,” she added about the incident.

Unfortunately, the event does not stop there. She said that after using the bathroom during the concert, a security officer moved her to a sitting area on two levels above his original place.

“When I went out, they had contacted the security officer who was trying to move me,” said Obigbesan. “They said it is not sure for me there because people will not know that I am visually impaired – I said that I could recover my cane.”

After her resettlement, Obigbesan said she could no longer take advantage of the concert she had paid.

According to her, she felt overwhelmed by the humiliation which she had endured and barely remembered what had happened during the event.

“It’s a three -hour show, but I barely remember all of this because I was crying so much,” said Obigbesan.

Since the sharing of his experience, Obigbesan has encountered a flow of support from his colleagues fans of the pop star, who now express concerns about the treatment of disabled people during Beyoncé shows.

Online users criticized the arrangements of the concert, saying that more should have been made to welcome disabled people.
