The Division 3 officially confirmed: in development

Ubisoft has confirmed that The Division 3 is in production. The game is described as a “monster” project. Read all the latest updates.
Big news for fans of Ubisoft’s popular shooter series. The Division 3 is officially in development. After months of quiet updates, Ubisoft has now clearly confirmed that the next main game in the The Division franchise is being worked on.
The announcement came during a recent gaming showcase and has already raised excitement among long-time players. In this article, we explain what was said, who is working on the game, and what fans can realistically expect next.
The Division 3 Under Development and Release
The confirmation came from Julian Gerighty, who is executive producer at Ubisoft Massive. He shared the update during the New Game Plus Showcase. Gerighty announced that The Division 3 is already in production and described it as something very big.
According to him, the team is working hard behind closed doors and believes the game could have the same strong impact that the first Division game had when it launched in 2016.
The original The Division was known for its detailed open world, snowy New York setting, and deep looter shooter gameplay. It also helped shape extraction-style gameplay through its Survival DLC. Hearing that Ubisoft wants The Division 3 to match that level of influence sets high expectations for the new game.
While Gerighty did not share gameplay footage or story details, his comments suggest that Ubisoft is aiming for a larger-scale experience rather than a simple sequel.

The Division 3 Expected Release Date
Ubisoft has not shared a release window for The Division 3. Platforms and settings are also still unknown. Based on Ubisoft’s recent strategy of delaying major titles to improve quality, it is expected that The Division 3 may not release until 2028.
While waiting for The Division 3, Ubisoft is still supporting The Division 2. A major expansion called Survivors is planned for 2026. This update takes inspiration from the first game and its Survival mode. It will bring snowy weather to Washington, D.C., new locations, resource management, and PvPvE extraction gameplay.
