The school year Soon for many students, and Chatgpt has announced a new “study mode” which aims to prevent – or at least, encourage it – against – students by taking the shortcuts of homework.
The mode is designed around the Socratic method, so when activated, the genetifa chatbot of Openai rejects direct answers, rather guiding the user with open questions. The new study mode is available for most chatgpt connected users, including those in the free version.
Openai has considerably disrupted the education system in recent years, students becoming some of the first chatgpt adopters. Despite this, Openai says that the bot is currently a global boon for learners –if Asked for a role -playing game as a synthetic tutor.
“When Chatgpt is invited to teach or kill, he can considerably improve school performance,” explains Leah Belsky, vice-president of education in Openai, “but when it is simply used as a machine to respond, it can hinder learning.”

However, the immediacy and the personalized nature of chatbots resemble an escalation. Several AI smartphone applications that can solve homework problems with a snapshot, such as Gauth de Bytedance, Rocket in popularity whenever the school year is recovering. Many educators have recently raised concerns about the continuous and often secret use of AI by students.
The CEO of Openai, Sam Altman, does not buy it. “I remember when I was at school – Junior High – Google came out for the first time and all the teachers panicked,” said Altman on a recent podcast. Similar to the Internet and the calculator, Altman considers AI as a tool capable of helping you “think better”.
