The ‘Boys vs. Girls’ Video Controversy Explained

Megastar YouTuber Jimmy “MrBeast” recently posted a Minecraft video on the “MrBeast Gaming” channel titled “1000 players simulate a civilization: boys against girls,” which involves two teams of 500 building civilizations in the game. Overall, the boys emerged victorious from the climate war that took place near the end of the video. The video went viral, garnering nearly 6.5 million views in 15 hours.
As the challenge became a hit on YouTube, one of the girl team members, VTuber and streamer Zavvy, took to X and shared a series of allegations against MrBeast’s latest Minecraft upload. One of the main accusations involved men using “AI images or deepfakes” to infiltrate and cause damage to the women’s team.
These men then allegedly posted sexist and racist messages on signs placed around the girls’ card. Additionally, Zavvy alleged that there was no proper reporting system until players pressured MrBeast staff:
“Ironically, we had Russians use AI/deepfake images to force their way into the girls’ side and then start mass murdering every girl they could see. This lasted for several days after a week of competition… there wasn’t even a way for us to report things in the Discord server until she and other girls liked to mass ping the staff for this feature in the Discord server.”
Zavvy called these men pretending to be on the women’s team “fake girls.” She went on to claim that transgender women had been wrongly targeted due to fears of infiltration from the fake girls:
“There were trans girls on the girls’ side. There’s nothing wrong with that except after it became common knowledge that there were Russian men pretending to be girls and rumors of girls selling their accounts to men, a lot of girls started reporting/targeting our trans girls as undercover just because of how loud their voices were and that started a huge fight on the girls’ side about transphobia and such.”
Additionally, these fake girls seem to be setting traps for the real members of the girl squad. The in-game losses resulting from these traps were difficult to reverse and created an unfavorable situation for the final battle.
Zavvy went on to claim that the video was originally “marketed as a CIV event” and not a PvP battle between two sexes. This created an imbalance, particularly due to the number of inexperienced players on the girls’ side.
Overall, the VTuber mentioned that MrBeast’s video failed to clearly explain these issues, fueling misplaced hatred:
“I wasn’t sure if I wanted to say something or not because I didn’t want to hurt my chances of being invited to another Mr. Beast event. But no one else is speaking out, and I see too much hate from the girls to not say something. I wish they would have said something about it in the video itself instead of leaving something vague in their description about banning cheaters.”
Zavvy shares alleged screenshots of ‘MrBeast’1000 players simulate a civilization: boys against girls » Minecraft event depicting sexist messages
Zavvy shared screenshots posted by girls on the United Girls Federation (UGF) server during the event. These screenshots showed signs containing racist and sexist messages in Russian, apparently planted on UGF territory.
The VTuber captioned the post:
“Screenshots posted by the girls on the UGF server during the event. The signs were originally in Russian and have been translated. (I blocked the guys’ names because they don’t deserve influence).”
Some of the messages on the sign read:
“I fucked your big asses… The village of girls where they suck [redacted]”.
Additionally, SteveWillDoIt called MrBeast a “fake guy” on Logan Paul. Impulsive podcast show.
