Dolly Parton admires Miley Cyrus for ‘trying new things’ in life

Dolly Parton recently revealed that her goddaughter Miley Cyrus is close to her heart because of her life principles.
The country musician reflects on her decades-spanning career as she blazes a trail for “generations of female artists” in her new book, Star of the show: my life on stage.
Call him Flowers hitmaker and goddaughter, Dolly shares that she “loves” Miley.
“She’s always trying new things. Some work great, some don’t, but she’s learned a lot,” the legendary musician says in an interview with PEOPLE.
Another key factor is that Dolly’s philosophy is the same as Miley’s.
“If you don’t have the courage to try, you’ll never know. That’s kind of my philosophy,” admits the 79-year-old.
For those who don’t know, Dolly would have managed to break into the mainstream as a solo artist before conquering Hollywood in the 1980s with films like 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. And Steel Magnolias.
Elsewhere in the interview, the country musician notes, “You have to grow into things, and you have to grow from things; that’s how I’ve managed my career.”
“I needed to try things. A lot of people think that because you’re a girl you don’t always know what you’re doing. I don’t care what anyone else does. I only care about what I have to do,” Dolly explains.
Meanwhile, the country musician is not only Miley’s godmother, but they have collaborated on many songs together, including Rainbow Country as well as a duet version of the 2013 hit Wrecking ballwhich appeared on Dolly’s album 2023 rock star.
