Tesla vs vinfast for India? The daring EV player of Vietnam leaves a surprise decision before the big entry of Elon Musk

The Vietnamese company EV, Vinfast, which had made its debut at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo earlier this year, officially opened reservations for its high -end SUVs – the VF 7 and VF 6 – on the Indian market. The time of the pre-reservation announcement is particularly interesting, since Tesla opens its first exhibition hall in India the same day.
VINFAST AUTO India – The Indian subsidiary of Vietnamese society – has also doubled on its Indian strategy. He signed agreements with 13 dealership partners to establish 32 dealerships in 27 cities. And these dealers will appear not only in urban cities, but also in the emerging EV markets, notably Delhi, Gurugram, Noida, Chennai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Pune, Jaipur, Ahmedabad, Kolkata, Cochin, Bhubanehwar, Trivandrum, Chandigust Visakhapatnam, Shimla, Agra, Jhansi, Gwalior, Vapi, Baroda and Goa.
The EV player provides for an official launch of the VF 7 and VF 6 for the public sale in August, after the inauguration of his Thotukudi factory. Vehicles will be assembled locally in the next Tamil Nadu factory in Vinfast, which has been created with an investment of $ 500 million. When it is fully operational, the Thoothukudi factory will produce 150,000 vehicles per year, creating around 3,500 direct jobs.
VF 7 & VF 6 from Vinfast
Indian customers will be able to reserve premium SUVs in Vinfast exhibition halls or via their website with a fully refundable reservation amount of 21,000 rupees. According to Vinfast, its offers are “adapted to Indian roads and the needs of consumers”.
VF 7 is equipped with a spacious high -end interior, advanced level 2 driver (ADAS) aid systems, a large touch screen, connected cars technologies, a panoramic glass roof, wireless load and signature LED lighting.
VF 6 is more focused on the family and is delivered with level 2 ADAs, an intuitive infotainment system, connected characteristics, signature lighting and a panoramic roof.
Pham Sanh Chau, CEO of Vinfast Asia, calling for the response to the Bharat Mobility Global Expo “overwhelming”, said that they are convinced that “Indian customers will find these models not only competitive, but really inspiring”.
Vinfast load solution
The Vietnamese company has announced partnerships with Roadgrid, MyTVS and Global ensures a network of load and sales services after national sales. This will guarantee access to the load in real time, diagnoses focused on AI and integrated digital platforms to support the company’s EV infrastructure.
Vinfast has also teamed up with Batx Energies, an Indian -specific technology company specializing in the recycling of batteries, recovery of rare metals and reuse of end -of -life battery. The company aims to create a value chain of the circular battery in India.
The conglomerate offers a wide range of electrical SUVs, scooters and electronic bus.
Tesla entrance
Meanwhile, after years of conferences and attempts, Tesla opens her first Indian exhibition hall in Mumbai today – an exhibition hall of 4,000 square feet in the Bandra Kurla complex. A second exhibition hall should open its doors to New Delhi by the end of the month.
However, Tesla cars are delivered with a high price, thanks to import rights, which was a contention apple between Elon Musk and the Indian government. 70% import duties mean that Tesla cars would have an ex-show price in between 50 and 75 lakh for basic and intermediate level variants. This means that Tesla would not compete with local leaders of electric vehicles like Tata Motors or Mahindra, but in the luxury support with BMW and Mercedes-Benz.
In addition, Tesla imports the Y models of its Chinese gigafactory.
Given the market for grassy electric vehicles of India – although with unprecedented scope – Tesla’s decision is presented to be more strategic than financial.
