For the fourth time this season, the Los Angeles Dodgers will host a launcher of Tommy John surgery when the right -hander Emmet Sheehan faces the Padres de San Diego on Wednesday evening.

Sheehan, who has not launched a major league match since the end of the 2023 season, joined Shohei Ohtani, Dustin May and Tony Gonsolin as Dodgers right -handers who made the return of major elbow surgery.

Even more weapons from Los Angeles have returned recently, while the staff are starting to leave injury, with Clayton Kershaw (knee, toe), Michael Kopech (forearm) and Kirby Yates (hamstring) all now.

Sheehan was 4-1 with an MPM of 4.92 in his recruit season of 2023 on 13 appearances, of which 11 were departures. He also abandoned three points out of 3 2/3 rounds from an eliminatory match against the Arizona Diamondbacks when he replaced Kershaw, who was eliminated from the match in the first round.

Sheehan used the 2024 season for rehabilitation and was inspired by the Dodgers race to a World Series championship.

“Obviously, it was really painful not to be able to contribute to it, but you also have that to hope, to return to this special of a group,” said Sheehan. “It really helped many of us who rehabilitated themselves in Arizona.”

After an 8-6 victory on Tuesday, the Dodgers are 4-1 against the Padres in a series of seven games between the teams in 11 days. Andy Pages struck two circuits for Los Angeles, and Will Smith made a shot of two sleeves in a sixth round of five rounds on a 12 -step stroke.

Patience is already thin between the teams after the pages were affected by a field on Monday and Ohtani was struck on Tuesday, a half-manche after Fernando Tatis Jr. de San Diego was drilled.

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts was ejected for discussing after the two benches were warned when Ohtani was hit.

San Diego is expected to send the right-hander Stephen Kolek (3-2, 3.50 ERA) to the mound on Wednesday. He had a hard time on Friday during his last outing, granting five points (four deserved) on seven strokes in 4 1/3 of sleeves while absorbing his first defeat since May 16, while Arizona Diamondbacks won 5-1.

Kolek played four emergency appearances with an MPM of 4.91 against the Dodgers in his recruit season of 2024.

The Padres received three shots and a point produced from Luis Arraez on Tuesday, while Trenton Brooks struck a two -point home run in his second match with his native city team after having made his debut in San Diego on Monday.

San Diego never faced Sheehan.

“There are no real secrets,” said Padres manager Mike Shildt on MLB radio about the Dodgers. “There are guys who will appear in the series, potentially to launch, that we have to make our reasonable diligence. We know what to expect and where they will go, and it is a question of how we rivalize and execute.”

The San Diego stop stop, Jose Iglesias was hit in the left hand on Tuesday by a Matt Sauer court in seventh round and was replaced in defense by Tyler Wade in the lower half of the English Channel. The blow by blow came after the referee’s warnings, but no measure was taken.
