Hayley Erbert counted in the top 20 things she loves at husband Derek Hough In honor of his 40th anniversary.
“Happy 40th birthday to my favorite person,” wrote Erbert, 30, via Instagram on Saturday May 17. “This world has been blessed for 4 decades with your presence and I am lucky to have you in my life for one of them.”
Erbert noted the particular meaning of Dancing Pro’s anniversary by listing some of her husband’s greatest qualities. (She wrote that she wanted to do a countdown of the first 40 but “Instagram will only authorize 20, so that will have to do.”)
At the top of the list were the “sense of adventure” and the “sweetness” of Hough, as well as its “constant” and “extremely thoughtful” energy.
“Your talent is out of this world. You are a real creative genius,” she wrote. “You have rekindled my spark to have played. I love you endlessly for that. “
Erbert has also shared some of Hough’s required habits, such as his “impetus to sign [his] Name / initials everywhere. “”
“It’s weird but it’s cute,” she joked. “You are a real weird 🫠 and you make me laugh every day.”
More seriously, Erbert thanked his spouse for his ability to “find the light at every moment, even when it is not so great” and praised his “love for our babies [pets]. “”

Hough was alongside her wife when she suffered an almost deadly cranial hematoma while waiting to go on stage during the couple’s “Symphony of Dance” tour in Washington DC in December 2023.
