Ligue 1 Winner of the title
The Mozambique International, whose last appearance for Atletico came against Paris Saint-Germain last month, also played for Benfica and Lille, with whom he won the title Ligue 1 and was appointed to the Ligue 1 team of the year in 2021.
The director of Sunderland Sporting, Kristjaan Speakman, said: “We had to be patient to finalize this transfer because of his involvement in the club World Cup, but we are delighted to welcome Reinildo in Wearside.
“We believe that it is an ideal profile for our rear position and its experience is perfectly suited to our composition of squad. He showed a real desire to join our club throughout our discussions and to be the first Mozambican to play in the Premier League.
“He is very motivated by this challenge and he has a personality, I am sure that our supporters will connect, so we are impatient to welcome him to Sunderland later this month.”
Reinildo will compete with Dennis Cirkin for the berth on the back left and joins Enzo Le Fee, whose loan agreement of Roma was made permanent, Noah Sadiki and Habib Diarra as new arrivals in Wearside.
