Long -term Clues of Blue Host Steve Burns finally spoke after years of persistent online rumors wrongly said that he had died.
In a new episode of Floo of the soul Podcast organized by Rainn Wilson, the former beloved television host opened the way in which bizarre theories and disinformation affected his mental health.
“When a rumor goes that persists for three or four years, it ceases to be funny,” he said. “When he persists for 10 years, it looks like a cultural preference … When he persists for 15 or 20 years, you start to feel as if you are supposed to be.”
Burns, who left Clues of Blue In 2002, it became the subject of disturbing rumors shortly after his departure. Several news suggested that he had died of suicide, a drug overdose or even a car accident.
With limited access to the Internet at that time, fans had few means to verify its fate, which led the false story to spread widely and linger for years.
“Everyone thought I was dead, and finally I started playing,” said Burns.
Although speculations have made a heavy emotional price, Burns finally returned to the public’s eyes thanks to occasional television appearances and interviews with Podcast, which ultimately demystified the myth of death.
His return to Clues of Blue For his special 25th anniversary reassuring longtime fans that he was alive.
With the disturbing experience, burns a hard learning lesson: “Never google myself”.
