Spurs 1 – 0 Villarreal

Tottenham defeated Villarreal 1-0 at home while Thomas Frank’s team won a narrow victory in his first match in the Champions League as a chief coach.
An atmosphere of the spine at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium before kick -off had barely undermined before Luiz Junior overthrew the ball in his own net from a cross of Lucas Bergvall to give the guests with the fourth minute.
This goal scored the fastest of Spurs in the history of the tournament and although the projection of the first half hinted that they would add to their count, the performance quickly retaliated after the restart.
A rejuvenated Villarreal was released after the break, coupled with a degree of negligence of Frank’s men, leading to a change of momentum.
Clear chances were rare, but Micky Van de Ven was afraid of his team after being on the wrong side of Georges Mikautadze before grouping the attacker to the ground just outside the area.
A Swift Var check confirmed the decision of a free kick and a yellow card for the defender.
“It didn’t look at the top. I needed a little hope,” said Frank relieved after the match. “I saw him, he is clearly off the beaten track and he was a bit in front.”
The Spurs finally drowned at the final whistle to make sure that the three points were obtained in their first match in the Champions League since March 2023.
Thomas Parte came as a late substitute, before a justice in the United Kingdom. Party will appear on Wednesday at Southwark Crown runs to face charges of five rape leaders and a chief of sexual assault, which he denies.
Frank: great victory but we had trouble moving forward
Tottenham chief Thomas Frank::
“I thought it was a big victory. Any competition it is good to get three points and take a good start.
“Happy with the white leaf. Villarreal extremely good and limited to Little.
“Offensively, we had trouble creating something against a good team that was also very well defended with their 4-4-2 structure.
“It was a very uniform game that we have ahead of the end. I like that our foundation is strong. Obviously, we build the offensive structure more.
“There was a spell in the second half we had the ball every time we have it. We will increase this level.”
Bergvall: Frank A breath of fresh air
Tottenham midfielder Lucas Bergvall talk to Amazon Prime::
“New fresh air. We talked a lot about the” sheet of sheet “this year because we conceded a lot last year.
“My relationship with him is really good. I just want to come back to the form I had at the end of last year, and I have the impression that I am. I have the help of him and video analysts to improve every day.”
On the game itself, Bergvall added: “It was really difficult. Villarreal had an excellent performance, but a 1-0 victory at home is incredible.
“We managed to get three points today and they did not have a target, so we did a very good job.”
